➡️Is it a state of alarm like the previous one?
➡️ How is it different?
Mainly in that there will be no home confinement of the population like in March.
➡️ When does it come into effect?
Today 25th October 2020
➡️How long will this state of alarm last?
For sure until Monday, 9th November 2020, but the initial idea of the government is that the state of alarm will last for six months, until 9th May 2021. It has to be approved in the Congress of Deputies this week.
➡️Could it end before 9th May 2021?
Yes, but it doesn’t seem like it’s going to happen. The six months set by the government was after they had taken expert advice. According to experts, this is the time necessary to flatten the curve and slow the advance of the pandemic.
➡️Is there going to be general confinement of the population?
Initially no, but the powers are held by the presidents of each autonomous community. So if the data worsens in a community, they could end up ordering home confinement.
In any case, the government’s request is that the population stay home as much as possible. Less mobility, fewer contacts and less contagion possibilities.
➡️ Are we going to be able to leave the house freely?
During the day you can go out for any purpose, but at night movements between 23:00 and 06:00 are limited.
➡️ What time is the curfew?
Throughout the national territory, the curfew goes from 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
➡️ Do all the autonomous communities have the same hours?
No. Each autonomous community can advance or delay the start time of the curfew by one hour. So it could start between 10:00 p.m. and 00:00 a.m., and end between 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m.
➡️Are there exceptions to curfew?
Yes. During the curfew you can be on the street for the following justified reasons. Here are a few:
📌Returning from work.
📌Caring for older people.
➡️Can I take the dog out after 23:00 or go for a run?
In principle no, unless in your specific autonomous community the starting time of the curfew is set at 00:00.
➡️ What’s going to happen this Christmas?
Nobody knows at the present time, but it is most certain that the Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve parties will have to be celebrated with the people you live with. The government intends to approve the state of alarm until 9th May 2020. The curfew would be extended until that date, so between 23:00 and 06:00 you have to stay at home.
➡️ Is there an autonomous community that will not have a curfew?
Yes, the Canary Islands.
➡️ Can we move within the autonomous community?
It depends. Each community will decide if there is free movement in its territory or if perimeter confinements will be carried out – neighborhood, city, district, province … – within the community itself.
➡️Will there be movement between communities?
It also depends. Each community decides whether to close its territory to other autonomies. In the event that a community closes its borders, there may be displacement for work, educational or medical reasons.
➡️ How many people can meet?
Communities may also limit social gatherings, but with a maximum limit of six people, unless they are living together.
